Privacy policy
Current data practices
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to improve this site. Measurement is enabled by default. It uses cookies and similar technology to send information about page visits, referral sources, devices and browsers to Google. We remove query strings and fragments from page and referrer URLs and do not measure contact form contents. For our own social links, we separately send only preapproved source, medium, campaign and post labels to understand which introduction led to a visit. Unrecognized values and arbitrary URL parameters are not sent. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. We do not use Microsoft Clarity. When you click a product link, we also send its product identifier, current page path, display language, article target market, placement and link type to Google. Affiliate and official links are distinguished; this event does not include the raw destination URL or personal identifiers.
Your Google Analytics choice
Google Analytics is on by default, and no consent panel opens automatically on your first visit. You can turn it off or on using Google Analytics preferences at the bottom of English pages. Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage and applies to both language editions. Previous opt-outs remain in effect. Turning Google Analytics off stops its further measurement and deletes this site's GA cookies; it does not delete data already sent. This setting does not control Cloudflare Web Analytics, which remains enabled. Clearing browser storage restores the default setting. Google's handling of information is subject to its privacy policy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page visits and improve page performance. Your browser sends page and performance information to Cloudflare for these reports. This analytics service does not use cookies or localStorage, or fingerprint individual visitors. It operates separately from Google Analytics.
Analytics retention
GA cookies are configured to expire after 180 days without extending their lifetime on repeat visits. Browser restrictions may shorten this period. GA4 user and event data retention is set to two months, with resets on new activity disabled. This retention setting does not apply to most aggregated reports.
Information submitted through the contact form
The form collects your email address, message, confirmation of consent, and optional name and subject. We use this information only to handle and reply to your inquiry, not for advertising. Cloudflare handles form requests and message transmission; CORESERVER handles email receipt and replies. Do not submit confidential information or passwords. You can also use the contact form for questions about how your information is handled.
Remembering your display preference
If you previously saved a Light, Dark or System preference, the site reads it from your browser's localStorage. Without a saved preference, the site follows your device's display setting. The site does not send this preference to our server. Clearing this site's stored browser data removes any previously saved choice.
Remembering your language
When you select Japanese or English, we store that choice in a first-party cookie (ecailab-language) for up to one year. It contains only the language, with no individual identifier. The cookie is sent to our server with site requests, allowing the main homepage to open in English on later visits if you selected English. Before you make a choice, we use your browser's preferred languages to suggest another edition without automatically redirecting you. Dismissing the suggestion is remembered in this tab's sessionStorage. These settings are separate from analytics and can be removed by clearing this site's cookies and stored browser data. Browser storage restrictions may prevent us from remembering your choice.
Hosting and external websites
Our hosting provider may process access information to deliver and secure the website. When you follow an external link, the destination website’s privacy policy applies.
