SEO means search engine optimization: making your website easier for search engines to understand and useful for people who search. For a coffee shop, that could mean explaining its location, opening hours and products clearly, then publishing a genuinely helpful brewing guide.
GEO means generative engine optimization. People use the term for work intended to improve a brand's visibility in AI-generated answers. Think of someone asking an AI assistant which coffee equipment suits a small kitchen. Being mentioned in an AI answer doesn't necessarily lead to a website visit or a sale.

What would you actually be paying for?

- Plan: agree which existing pages and new topics deserve attention.
- Review: check product facts and approve proposed changes.
- Measure: track visits and inquiries from the customers you want to reach.
For example, a handmade furniture seller might start with one collection and its delivery questions. That gives the team a clear place to start. “Help shoppers understand this collection and where we deliver” is a more useful brief than “get us more traffic.”

Selling in more than one language?
Ranked lists Japanese among supported languages, while its documentation marks non-English support as beta. Check the quality of the language you need and ask which languages the support team uses. Language documentation
If you sell in multiple markets, ask for a sample in each language. Does it sound natural? Does it use the right product names and answer questions customers in that market actually ask? Translating the words is only part of the job.

- Choose one goal, such as more quote requests from suitable customers.

- Agree who approves content and who can publish changes.
- Ask what work was completed and what should happen next.
- Review the quality of the work now, and track search results over a longer period.
Read reports with your actual customers in mind. More visits from a global audience may do little for a business that only serves one town. SEO also takes time to assess: agree on a review period instead of judging the service after one quiet week.
