Choose a workload before choosing a tier

The useful starting point for a Zipchat budget is the work you want AI to handle: product questions, delivery queries or another defined queue. Estimate that workload, then compare the plans at both normal and peak demand. A lower headline price is only helpful if it covers the work you intend to run.

This guide uses public sources checked on September 5, 2026. We have not tested billing or measured savings on a live store. The scenarios below are our own hypothetical calculations. For product fit and limitations, read our source-based Zipchat review.

Each outbound AI message uses one reply. Extra packs cost $49 per 250 replies. The website advertises 20% off annual billing; the table above is not an annual equivalent. Official pricing FAQ

Model reply demand, not just traffic

Start with expected AI conversations multiplied by measured AI replies per conversation. Use observations from the particular queue you plan to automate. Do not assume that a delivery-status exchange has the same length as a detailed product-selection discussion.

As an illustration, 300 conversations averaging four replies require 1,200 replies. At six replies, the same conversation count requires 1,800. These are assumptions, not product benchmarks. Testing the higher case helps reveal how sensitive your budget is to a longer conversation.

Track whether the shopper's issue was resolved as well as how many replies were used. An exchange that ends quickly can still create work if the customer returns through another channel. Include those repeat contacts in your evaluation before reporting savings.

Extra packs versus upgrading: two worked examples

For planning only, assume packs can be purchased in whole 250-reply increments at the listed price. The comparison below excludes taxes, proration, transition charges and any account-specific terms. It is not an invoice forecast.

  • At 1,800 replies, Growth needs two packs: $129 + $98 = $227. That is $22 below Pro's $249, with 2,000 replies of modeled capacity.
  • At 2,100 replies, Growth needs three packs: $129 + $147 = $276. That is $27 above Pro, which includes 3,000 replies.

The useful question is whether the higher usage is recurring or a temporary peak. A short campaign may justify a different decision from sustained demand. Confirm the actual upgrade timing and how existing usage is treated before switching.

Annual billing, trial and overage questions

Terms section 3.2 describes a seven-day trial followed by automatic charging; 3.5 describes automatic overages. Unlike the pricing FAQ's refund promise, section 3.3 excludes annual plans and defaults to store credits. Confirm eligibility, deadlines and refund method. Subscription terms

We have not verified the annual checkout total. Capture the payable amount and renewal terms from your actual offer before approving a longer commitment. A displayed monthly equivalent should not replace the total cash commitment in a purchasing request.

Give someone ownership of the trial decision before it begins. If the test attracts too few conversations to establish quality or demand, record that limitation. Lack of evidence is a reason to revise the evaluation, not evidence of a successful rollout.

Compare operating cost as well as subscription cost

Build a simple worksheet with three rows: software, review time and human follow-up. Record a normal month and a peak month separately. Leave uncertain costs visible instead of treating them as zero.

Review time includes updating product information, checking answers and correcting policies. Follow-up includes cases where a person must take over and repeat contacts after an incomplete answer. These categories help distinguish a cheaper subscription from a cheaper operating process.

For an internal business case, define success before launch. You might require a particular level of answer accuracy on an agreed test set and a tolerable review workload. Set your own thresholds; this article does not claim Zipchat will deliver a particular resolution rate or revenue increase.

Before you approve the subscription

  1. Specify the queue and the person responsible for answer quality.
  2. Estimate reply demand for both baseline traffic and planned campaigns.
  3. Confirm overage behavior, spending controls and plan-change timing for the account.
  4. Save the checkout total, billing period, renewal and cancellation conditions.
  5. Schedule a decision date and document what would justify continuing.

Choose a plan after these inputs are clear enough to compare. If the product fit is still uncertain, use the review and pilot checklist alongside the cost model.
