Start with the product page, then compare the bill
Put Loox on your shortlist when customer photos can answer buying questions; start with Judge.me Free when affordable review collection is the priority. This is a decision about presentation and ongoing costs, not a split between a photo app and a text app. Both support customer photos.
A clothing store might need to show how a garment hangs. A homeware store might want buyers to see an item in an ordinary room. Written feedback still matters: a photo cannot explain how something washes or how it feels after regular use. Look for a presentation that makes both kinds of evidence easy to find.
This comparison uses official pricing, help documentation and Shopify listings checked on September 19, 2026. Display in your theme, billing conditions and migration results vary by store, so confirm them before you sign up.
Both handle photos; test how shoppers use them
Photo support is the starting point, not the deciding feature. Loox Convert adds video and AI-assisted review presentation to its photo collection tools. Judge.me includes photos and videos on Free, with AI summaries among its paid features. See the Loox Convert documentation and Judge.me plan comparison, checked on September 19, 2026.
| Your decision | What to test in Loox | What to test in Judge.me |
|---|---|---|
| Visual product evidence | Whether the layout helps explain fit, texture or scale | Whether the free display already meets that need |
| Written feedback | Whether shoppers can read context beside the photos | Whether detailed comments remain easy to scan on mobile |
| Video | Whether the paid feature belongs in your budget | Whether the included display works well in your theme |
| AI summaries | Whether the original feedback stays accessible | Whether important caveats survive the summary |
Treat this as a test checklist, not a feature scorecard. A comment that an item runs small is useful only if the surrounding information helps a shopper judge the fit. Attractive photography should not bury the practical details or disappointing experiences that matter to a buying decision.
If customers rarely have useful photos to share, concentrate on the questions in your review request and the timing of that request. An elaborate gallery cannot replace informative feedback.
Free means different things in each app
Both offer a free starting point, but Loox has an order condition. Beginner is free up to 500 total store orders after the trial ends. That is not a monthly allowance that refreshes indefinitely; the plan becomes unavailable after the threshold. The Loox Beginner guide explains the condition, checked on September 19, 2026.
Judge.me Free includes unlimited requests and photo and video collection. Awesome costs USD 15 per month. If the free features cover your needs, there is no reason to upgrade just because the paid option exists. These details come from Judge.me's pricing help, checked the same day.
Before relying on Loox Beginner, decide what would justify keeping Loox after the free eligibility ends. A useful answer describes something you have checked in your store: clearer product evidence, an appropriate layout or a workflow your team can maintain.
Compare paid costs at ordinary and peak order volumes
A starting monthly price is not the whole budget. Loox Convert starts at USD 49.99 per month with 300 monthly orders; each additional block of 300 orders adds USD 50. Unlimited is listed at USD 299.99 monthly. Sources: Loox quota guide and official pricing, checked September 19, 2026.
Review both an ordinary month and a sale period before comparing that budget with Judge.me. Do not assume only the orders you want to email count toward billing. Check the chargeable order definition and the actual subscription approval screen. Taxes, currency conversion and account-specific terms need separate confirmation.
The cheaper app is not automatically sufficient, and paying more does not establish a sales benefit. Decide whether the display and daily workflow justify the difference. Our Loox pricing guide explores the budgeting questions in more detail.
Run a focused storefront check
Use a representative product to evaluate browsing and submission together. The following is a proposed test, not a completed editorial trial.
- Choose a product that attracts a recurring buying question and decide what reviews should clarify.
- Use an unpublished theme or another appropriate test setup to compare photo, text and star-rating placement.
- On mobile, open a photo, return to the review and continue selecting the product or adding it to the cart.
- Check the submission flow through an authorized test method, including image attachment and required fields.
- Match every feature you intend to keep to the applicable plan.
Manage request settings during the comparison so customers do not receive duplicate emails from both apps. Keep test feedback out of genuine customer reviews. Also assign responsibility for checking whether submitted photos are suitable for public display, including any people or address details visible in them.
Check the data before switching apps
Matching the review count does not prove a migration is complete. Judge.me provides a CSV migration route from Loox, but verified status depends on supporting data, and videos are not imported by default. Its Loox migration guide documents those qualifications, checked September 19, 2026.
Keep a secure copy of the source data and check product assignments, text, photos and display names in the destination. Pay particular attention to discontinued or merged products. Retain a way to investigate discrepancies before removing the old app.
The same caution applies when moving into Loox. General import support does not guarantee that every field will transfer unchanged. Identify the data you need to retain and confirm compatibility with the official support team. Treat the search impact of a switch as an open question to check, not a settled one.
Common questions and your next step
Begin with a product and a short test note. Write down what customers should learn from its photos and written feedback before choosing a subscription.
Is Judge.me only for text reviews? No. Its photo and video support makes it a real option for visual products too. Compare the experience available in the plan you would actually use.
Does a fashion store need Loox? No. Loox is worth evaluating when its presentation may help explain the product, but your own storefront check should justify the choice.
Can I choose on the free plan alone? It is a sensible starting point when the features suffice. With Loox, include the order threshold and the budget after it. We also checked the Loox Shopify listing and Judge.me Shopify listing on September 19, 2026.
Once your product checklist is ready, review the terms shown at Loox signup and test that product's photo and text presentation. Keep the app only if the experience and ongoing cost work for your store.
