Concept illustration of choosing a new customer support service

What do you want to change about Gorgias?

Need a different shared inbox, a new AI assistant, or a simpler way to answer shoppers? Those are three different reasons to look for a Gorgias alternative—and they lead to different choices.

Tidio is worth comparing for live support and AI together. Zipchat belongs on your list if you want to change how AI handles conversations. Shopify Inbox is another option if most of your support happens in your store's chat. None is automatically a replacement for everything your team does in Gorgias.

Gorgias combines a helpdesk with an AI Agent that handles support and shopping conversations. Helpdesk overview · AI Agent overview

This shortlist is based on official information checked September 5, 2026. We haven't tested a migration or compared these tools in a live store.

Tidio: compare a typical day on your support team

Tidio offers ticketing, live chat, and Lyro AI for Shopify. Official Shopify integration

Ask a teammate to try the demo with questions they handle every day. Include a conversation reassigned to someone else, a reopened issue, and a customer who hasn't provided enough information. Can the teammate see what happened and respond without extra digging?

Check how you'll keep access to past conversations, internal notes, and customer details. An available CSV export is useful only if your team can use that information when following up. Confirm the import options directly; this guide doesn't verify a migration route.

Zipchat: focus on the conversations you want AI to handle

Zipchat is an ecommerce AI sales and support tool. That makes it relevant when you're reconsidering automated answers, but it doesn't establish that it can replace every helpdesk task. Official product overview

For example, you could try it on product recommendations while keeping your current support inbox. Check that recommendations follow your catalog rules and that unanswered questions reach your team.

List the work staff will still do: approve exceptions, follow up later, and answer messages from other channels. If that requires a second workspace, include the extra time in your decision. Our Zipchat review covers the product, and our pricing guide explains its reply-based costs.

Shopify Inbox: see whether a simpler setup is enough

Shopify Inbox includes an optional agent that can reply automatically, alongside staff messaging. Official Inbox guide

Start by checking which options are available in your store. Try common questions, a request for a person, and conversations in the languages you support. Then consider messages that arrive elsewhere: those still need somewhere to go.

Compare the full cost of switching

Give each provider the same information: channels, monthly questions, seasonal peaks, team size, and required actions. Ask what usage is included and what costs extra. Different billing units aren't interchangeable.

Include migration, training, and any period when you'll pay for both tools. Keep unknown costs marked as unknown rather than entering zero.

Before canceling Gorgias:

  1. List the channels, saved replies, integrations, and records you need.
  2. Test those requirements with the people who will use the new tool.
  3. Confirm how you'll retain access to customer history.
  4. Decide who will catch missed requests during the switch.
  5. Keep a way to return to the old setup if needed.

If a full replacement looks unnecessary, try a smaller change first. Our Shopify chatbot shortlist can help narrow the options.
